Our New School

Well, today was a big day for us. We visited the school that Shay and Charley will be attending at the start of the 2009 school year here in Shanghai (August 31st.) Greg has a lot to do with the school so it wasn't like we were going in cold but even so I was really apprehensive about how the children would cope but surprisingly they were very positive about it all. We asked the kids to come up with three things they thought about the school. We asked them to think about what was the best thing, what was a freaky thing and what was something that they didn't like so much.

Here's what they said:

"The best things were they have a pool and lots of play areas. The freaky thing was that they have AN ELEVATOR. And the worst thing was it wasn't our school in Melbourne."

Sigh, I hope this all goes well.

  1. Hi Libby, Greg, Shay and Charley
I visited the supermarket in Chengdu many times-the locals must have thought I was mad too! It was just fascinating.
I confess to being a little envious just now about your adventure- sounds so exciting.
When we were in China a few weeks ago, Lucy thought it was all fantastic but there too many people-it is too squishy!
She also said quite spontaneously one day " I think Australia is luckier than China Mummy" Why? "I live in a big house with a garden, they dont"".
We had such a good rip this year we are planning for next year...
